Hey guys, I finally got my burner working. Thanks to all those who gave me help. Now i'm trying to make a dvd form mpeg files. I have already used tmpgenc to convert my mpeg files to a dvd compliant mpeg2 stream. (the movie was an svcd)
I have been using SonicMyDVD since it came with the drive, and have had success in getting close to what I want. Mation background, background music, etc.....Sadly, I can't make any chapters, because the program will only create chapters in videos captured with the program. So I was wondering if there was another way to create chapters before putting the file into Sonic.
I read a way to create them in CCE, and I wouldn't mind using CCE instead of tmpgenc, but I don't know how to get from my mpeg2 files to the format CCE uses.
Or maybe someone has a suggestion of a program better than Sonic that will do what I want.
I want to have chapters, animated chapter selection buttons with clips of the chapter repeating, custom still or motion background(I don't want to be limited to program defaults), and background music.

Thanks to all who can help, I appreciate it. I'm learning, slowly but surely.

CCE doesn't actually create chapters, what you are thinking of is a technique to make sure that you have an I frame (key frame) where you are going to put a chapter.

I personally use Ulead DVD Movie Factory, not as good menus but easy to use and does chapters.

lol, someone else with almost the same name posted something about coverting svcd to dvd, That's cool. Anyway, unfortunately Ulead doesn't work on my system. at least I couldn't get it working. Crash upon loading up every time. Any other suggestions for a program that would work?

You need to get the environment fix file, I had the same problem. Its in the moviefactory section of the support area at www.ulead.com, I can't give you the exact url as it's OS dependant.

If you want to use CCE though you could try frameserving. There are tutorials on this technqiue on dvdrhelp.com

I do recommend DVD Workshop though. Very handy program, but I'd like more features... Also, TMPGENC may be slower than CCE, but I've found it produces much much better results.

I finally got Movie Factory working on my system, thanks guys!
Everything goes fine up until it's time to compile munus and burn. It gives me some weird error saying some chapter entry points exceed the number of frames. This is with the file I converted using Tmpegenc.
I decided out of curiosity to let ulead convert my original file instead od using the one I converted, and the chapters and everything else turned out beautifully, with no noticable difference in quality. But if anyone knows, i'd still like to know why I get that error message using my Tmpeg converted file and not with the ulead converted one.
