I have just sorted out my student house for next year and I am wanting to get broadband , I have done all the checks and it is avaible in the area , but wot I was wondering is wot is the best service provider to go for, is it worth me as a student paying out the extra tenner a month for the 1mb connection for blueyonder or should I just go for bt broadband.

thanx in advice

ps: mods I know i have posted this before but i have had no responses for days .

A m8 of mine who used to have BT Broadband didn't exactly get great speeds - maybe around 40k - but in their defense, that was quite a while ago.

As for Blue Yonder ... a guy I have known for a couple years has that and as I have access to hiss erver and speak to him daily, I know more about that. His download speeds are around 100k, more or less. He transfers a LOT of data throughout the course of a month and only recently got a complaint from them. They simply asked that he limit his FTP to 10 connections. lol It's important to have an ISP that is fairly relaxed about bandwdith usage IMOHO. So, I would pay the tenner and go with Blue Yonder. :)

I would go with blue younger my mate had a 1mb connection & shared it with someone in the house & had no problems with them.

blueyonder migh be lowering their prices and macking everything £10 cheaper soon thus 1m = £25 (or £30 with out tv/phone)

so its the way to got really
but dont pay for instilation phone them up and say i want it but dont want to pay £50 to have a bloke turn up 2days late and just install 3meters of cable and plug in a nic

so it is not worth paying the installation fee, I have a fairly good knowledge of pc's, is it just a case of pluging the nic card and connecting the cable or is it a lot harder than that?

if you dont have a nic then just buy a cheap one off ebuyer.com they are about £3

but blueyonder wont let you install it yourself (the nic but not the cable and modem) all they do is take a cable from the box, put a spliter on it and run it to your pc then plug in the modem and network cable into your pc and turn it on

but if you dont have a little cable box inside your house that migh be harder to get

so like i said just phone them and blab on a bit, i did this and so did one of my friends and i worked both times
