View Full Version : Is there any way to backup games without a XBOX/PC hookup?

Good morning,

I was wondering if it was possible to place a Xbox game in a DVD burner and make a back up that way? If not, what other methods could I use that don't involve hooking up my Xbox system to a PC? My brother-n-law has a solid DVD burner and is able to ake PS2 backups by just placing the game in the burner. I was hoping the Xbox would be just as simple, but that does not seem to be the case.

I was hoping to get some answers on this before I purchase a DVD burner.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

As far as im aware you can only backup originals though the xbox (already backed up games can be done via a pc).

Can't do it. You need to have your PC and Xbox networked to backup original XBox games. You CAN make backups of other backup games with just a DVD/CD burner, but not originals.

Thanks for the information. Does this mean that I won't be able to download the various emulators like MAME X and Final Burn and get them burned to a DVD R for play on the Xbox?:(

Once again, thanks for the help.

u can put mame an stuff like that in your HDD an use a dashboard to launch them, if u whant to make a back up of an origanl xbox game, the only way that i know of is hooking up your xbox to pc an tranfer the cd files to your pc .

your best bet is to download the games from newsgroups or ftp servers then burn them to dvdr. this way you don't have to mess with the xbox to pc stuff.

What's a good group in newsgroups to look under for Xbox games?
