jeepers94 Mar 16, 2003, 09:49 PM I think I mistyped,it should be the Epson 960.It now comes with the cd kit.It can be found for under $300 US,which would be aboud 200 pounds,if my thinking is straight.
Sam66 Mar 17, 2003, 12:47 PM Maplin in the UK have a TDK disc printer for £99.99. I don't have much info on it, it looks more like a thermal printer than an inkjet.
It only does 4 colours but I think it might be worth checking out, for the price.

jeepers94 Mar 17, 2003, 03:40 PM The TDK is a disc only printer. It prints ONE color at a time.To print the othe 3 colors, you change the cartridges. It does not print a FULL cd label, just a small box with info. The Epson can print to normal paper, does full colors and prints the full label. Not much of a decision,is it?
Sam66 Mar 18, 2003, 04:09 AM Well it depends what you need. I have a thermal printer that only does one colour at a time.
It does however print to virtually any type of disk, the finished print is much harder wearing and the print cost per disk is much lower than that of an inkjet.
I have used an inkjet disc printer and the resolution and range of colours is far superior to a thermal one. But, as with anything there are pros and cons, it depends what you plan to do with it.
I didn't know that the TDK only prints a certain area of the disk, which obviously rather limits it's use and appeal.
bnbhoha Mar 19, 2003, 10:04 PM There's a thermal printer that you can buy for around $90 bucks that does a great job: Casio CW-50

jeepers94 Mar 20, 2003, 11:12 AM The Epson 960 uses 6 seperate ink cartridges, and inks are not very expensive. At around $300-325 US,it isn't a bad buy. This thread has me seriously considering buying one!
