Bought a barebones computer a few weeks ago that came with P4 1.5 GHz processor and a PC Chips 922 Mobo. A few days ago I was unable to connect to the internet. Device manager showed my drivers working and the device (onboard ethernet card) working. My cable provider stated my modem was functioning but could not communicate with my computer. I deleted and reinstalled the drivers anyway which didn't help. Then I changed ethernet cable which didn't help either. I ended up switching off onboard ethernet card in the bios and installing a new one in a PCI slot. Obviously i'm able to connect now. Is this a common occurance with this type of Mobo or a common occurance with onboard ethernet cards? I do have a one year warranty but I bought this computer from out of town and don't want to be without the computer while I wait for repair/replacement. Everything else on the board seems to function well.

I also have a PC Chips 922 Mobo on my other PC, and the onboard ethernet card is working fine.

No it is not common. There can be reasons for a component to go bad. I'd suggest you get the motherboard replaced on warrenty though because if one component is bad you don't know how long it might be until something else flakes out on you.
