I live in the US and here some ISPs are starting to track what you are downloading off kazaa etc...
I'm not a heavy user with my 56k modem, and I'm sure i'm not as much as a target as some of the people with DSL who download movies etc but i'd rather be on the safe side...

Can I log onto the net and be untracible? Like through a proxy?
How?

thanks

Well more and more people are begining to be concerned about this...but having a 56k modem I wouldn't be to worried about this. When I see some arests then you should start to worry....

And most proxy's slow down your comp, due to the distance and the speed of it...

I'm just scared that I will be the first one arrested :)
but keep in mind to never open the door to a cop unless they are holding a search warrent (that they are not likely to get unless they think I have 50 kilos in my closet) :)
bye

Get the new Kazaa lite, no spyware and it has a privacy option, so no one can see what you've downloaded. It affords a tiny bit of protection, anyway.

I wouldn't worry m8. There was a story on cnet concerning Kazaa and the crackdown on Kazaa users. The gist of the article with a quote from law enforcement here in the US was that they are going to seek out those sharing the most GBs of content and bust them to make examples out of them. So no worries just yet.

On a side note, Kazaa sucks anyway. hehe ;)

whatever they log isnt enough evidence to get a search warrant.

I cant see them being able to log much more than file size file name and the sources you got it from. and as you know filenames arent always what you see is what you get on kazzaa.

I personally wouldnt worry about it but if your that paranoid a proxy would do the trick alot ofpeople think they slow you down mostly yes depends where its located you can actually get an increase in speed if you get one close to your location or closer to the download location.
