I'm still confuse about why does cable and dsl internet is about the same price when cable internet is much faster than dsl....

I means, my ATTBI internet highest speed is 475 kb/s and my Verizon DSL internet highest speed is only 100 kb/s!!! :D

but they are both at the same price.......... many people said that cable will be much slower than DSL but when, maybe about 10 years later.... lol :D

DSL should decrease their price....

Cable is a shared line while DSL is a dedicated line running into your house. Therefore if lots of people around your house are using cable, your speeds will drop. For example around where I live, cable used to has an advertised speed of 1 MBit/sec but in some areas people only get like 500 kbit/sec due to busy lines.

Well, in the vast majority of locations, cable is still much faster than DSL. This is because of several factors. Cable is a shared line, and availablity has expanded greatly in the past couple of years. So cable currently has far fewer users that they plan to have in the future.(All which will be sharing the same line) Cable is also much easier for users to set up, configure, and troubleshoot.(However DSL is gettting almost as easy as cable now) So if you're able to get cable now, I'd do so. However in the future speeds are also almost guaranteed to slow down considerably so I would look into ADSL service also. Just in case.
