thanx pepsik for your reply. i've set my laser hieght, BUT the games loaded up in three different positions what now? when i did the laser 80% of my games worked, put it together it dropped to 20%???? is it possible to set the laser so high that it scrapes against the cd??? why if i load a game does it make a loud whining sound and not load up ??? some games load half way and stall or won't progress to the next stage??? what is the difference between laser alignment and laser calibration??? i read you can set the strenght of the laser how do you do that pro's and con's??? WHY WHY WHY???? all i want is for my PS2 to run smoothly, like my PSX did. if there is someone out there that works with VERBATIM disk's alot how about some settings?

Hmm, ok your getting close. If the laser height is toohigh, yes it will scratch your disk, try to avoid that setting. I used Timesplitters2 cdr on verbatim to adjust the height until it read flawlessly, after that i tried dvdr and everything was peechy keen. Try the settings that work the most with both formats with the most amount of success, sometimes 80% is as good as it gets.


PS: patches are executable program that will "fix" what ever image needs it IE: EA patch for ea games on older chips such neo2.2 and such, or no-mod patches which cut games TOC size down to under 630mb so that they can be booted without a modchip. Yes you need a computer, and a cd burner.

PPS: It's a neat little toy and it works, just not on those disks that llok like they have been scraped on concrete. Everything has it's limits.

what is the screw for the laser height adjustment? My ps2 laser now is so low the cd falls off the laser when it's playing. Sometimes it stays on and boots but most of the time it falls off or slows down because it is wobbling around on the laser. If you have a pic of it it be great. Someone help me I wanna go back to playing my ps2...
