My old Toshia would rip dvd's fine, but would not read DVD-RW disks
Went to BB and bought a Pacific Digital 16X

When I tried to rip a movie getting the following error

Logical unit has not been set
The slower "brute Force" VOBdec/DeC5Plus cracking method will be used

Works fine with data backup disks

Are all the new 16X going to get this error when I try to rip a DVD?

Thanks

Gary

What ripper are you using?
Also try playing the movie first, let it play for a few seconds then stop it & then try ripping. On some DVD-players playing the disc unlocks it.

DVD Encrypter and SmartRipper
Does all the new 16X drives have this same problem?
Was about to get a Toshiba or a LiteOn.

Some drives are being shipped without the Region code being set.

To set the region, find your Pacific Digital 16X in Device Manager, right-click, go to Properties, then click tab for "DVD Region." and set it appropriately. That's it!

On which OS in Device Manager there is a tab ”DVD Region”? I use Win 98 SE and there's no tab.

I'm using WXP Pro.

I just had a look at my other machine (W98se) and you're right, there's no tab on there. I dont know how you would get to the setting there.
