Right....

recently all sound stopped working on my girlfriends computer, ive checked the speakers they work fine. ive also checked the Device Manager and the sound card status is "This device is working properly".

I just noticed too that there is no "Volume Control" icon in the TaskBar and when i try to open the Volume Control through ACCESSORIES > ENTERTAINMENT i click the icon and nothing happens.

can anyone help???

Did you check if there is anything wrong with the wires?

if you mean the wires to the speakers yeah ive checked them and the power cable for the speakers.

is there anything in the device manager under control panel>system>device manager sround,video, and game controllers that says anything along the lines of "audio drivers" or "audio device" or anything similar?

checked the device manager and everything is working properly (apparently). could the problem be anythin to do with the fact that i cant open the volume control??

have you tried uninstalling the drivers for it and then reinstalling them sometimes that works.
