View Full Version : why is the sound lower on disc,than tn,vcr

i`ve noticed playing dvds s/vcds the sound through the tele is alot lower.fine through surround sound.when disc movie is backed up to vhs the resulting tape has to be turned up full blast to just hear it.dvd player is connected to macro designal to vcr to tv.surround sound scarted into vcr & digital tv box.any help please:confused:

The technical explanation is long winded and boring ,ie SNR ,acoustic bandwidth and includes db ratios with respect to the 1vP_P.
The short one is it just is .The answer is to use a separate sound system out of your DVD and make the windows rattle

yes using the surround sound its fine.but the main problem is that vhs sound on other peoples tvs with no seperate sound system is just too low to use.is there any way to increase the volume on disc to vhs

be sure that when you are coping to vhs, you are playing 2 channel stereo and not 5.1 digital. your vcr cant handle 5.1 even if it has some sort of downmix function. i had the same prob in the beginning because i was always using 5.1 from the dvd. hope this helps

Get a graphic equalizer and install beteen the dvd and vhs. You can increase the volume that way.
