just to let you know there is a down grade util
for the 105..it down grades to .58..

cant post address,,encase of being suspended,,,

Continue because Force Update option is specified.
Now updating the firmware.
Please do not turn off the power and do not reset the pc.
Processing 100% --> Data transfer complete
Now internal re-flashing...
New Revision >> PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105 0.58 02/09/19
New FW = GENERAL
Success to update the firmware.
Update operation is completed.

As simple as by using Command Prompt under WinXP.

v1.30 seems to be the best firmware for A05 until now. Downgrade only if you really need.

is there a way of bringing a dead 105 back to life after an unsucssesful flash due to the driver door not being closed during the flash killing my beloved 105

I am assuming that you have already tried reflashing the drive right?
