hi..could anyone tell me is it worth paying for 4x media when some applications only work when 1x speed is used?
i.e. some x boxs only work on media copied at 1x, not sure about ps2, believe pc and standalone are ok with media at 4x?
thanks for any help

Yes it is worth it. You will still be able to do DVD movies at 4x with no trouble. It is recommended to do burns at 1x for gamesystems but I have done a couple of XBOX backups at 2x with no problems whatsoever. I will give 4x a shot once my media runs out. Why don't you try ordering a free trial pack of a reliable 4x media (i.e. Ritek) since all you will pay is shipping costs and give it a shot. There was a guy who posted a couple weeks back in the PS2 forum that his 4x Riteks 1. Wouldn't be read at all by his PS2 if burned at 1x. 2. Would be read but very slow and jerky at 2x 3. Would read perfectly and boot up every time at 4x. I realize that this is the exception and not the rule but I would think it would be worth at least giving it a shot with a trial pack. I hope this helps

Well I don't know what you classify as "Older" I have a Version 1.0 (Manufactering date April 2002) and that is the one that is reading my 2x fujifilm backups. It's more dependant on the DVD drive that is in your XBOX. Mine has a Philips XBOX DVD Drive.

Good to know I am going to do the 4x Riteks as soon as my current stock of discs run out. I can't wait to do XBOX backups at 4x.
