hi i have telewest broadband 1mb service and it seems to work really fast in the mornings but on a night time or accessing this forum after 7 it is really slow,

any ideas ito speed it up????

Why not try calling Telewest and ask them to check the line for you ? chances are that because more people in your area are using/sharing the same line, the bandwidth simply get drained.

Calling Telewest on the 24/7 support number would be your best choice I think.

thanks, i spoke to blue yonder the other day, i have just done a speed test and it seems ok.

so i think i'll just leave it at that for the moment, like you say there is loads of reasons why the bandwidth will slow down.

best to phone support line when problem is happening and this will give then a better chance of solving problem

It's a question of users/bandwidth you have a contention ratio which means the more users you have the less dedicated bandwidth you have to use. With BTO it's 50/1 so if say 10 users are using the line then you wont see much degredation in speed but say if 40 users or more are using the bandwidth then you will see a drop in performance. You will notice these slow downs in speed etc in the evenings and weekends because as you can imagine people are not at work and kids are home from school.
