Okay guys, this might be a stupid question for some of you, but I was wondering if there's any way of burning a movie that is non anamorphic (not enchanced for widescreen tvs) so that it will be anamorphic (enhanced for widescreen tvs) and if so, what do I need to do it? I've got spruce up, ifo editor, smart ripper and dvd decrypter. Any help would be greatly appreciated so that I don't have to wait around for the studios to release anomorphic versions of the non-anamorphic dvds I already own!!:p

You could do it, but there would be no point. You would not gain any of the advantages or a real anamorphic DVD as the res is simply not there.

I have done this with several movies and it's true you won't get "real" anamorphic resolution but you do get a bigger picture on your widescreen TV but since you're reencoding to a lower bitrate anyway you lose resolution whether you convert or not. I've found it's well worth it. The few I've done look really good.

You'll need to use CCE & avisynth, you need to crop the non-anamorphic picture from the original, stretch it vertically to the right size and then add new small borders (if doing 2.35:1), then use CCE as usual but select 16:9 as the ratio.
