I am trying to re format my hard drive as I am having a few problems & wish to start a fresh. Supplied with my PC was a recovery floppy & a reload CD together with the following instructions;

· Insert the orange recovery disk to the floppy drive and the reload/backup CD in the CDROM drive, then restart the computer
· Select Option 6 from the menu using the cursor keys and press <ENTER>
· You will be asked if you wish to exit to DOS to back up your files. Answer NO to this question
· You will be asked if you are sure. Answer YES to this question
· The procedure will now start. Do not power off the computer. Leave until finished, approximately 20 minutes
· When prompted, press a key to restart and remove the disks
I have selected Option 6 BUT then get the following message

CDR101 not ready reading drive x
Retry/abort/fail?
A:\

The problem I think is that my DVD (d drive) does not read any discs so I use my Cd rewriter (e drive) for everything so I think maybe the PC is trying to read my DVD drive. How then (if this the prob) do I point in the direction of drive e

Sounds very much like thats the problem, and the only way your going to get the other drive is to swap them over, i.e. make the master the CD-RW and if the DVD drive isn't reading anything, then just take it out.
