What's the deal with overburning?
I have a file that's 720mb.... Can i overburn? How can I do it safely? Slower burning speed? 4x maybe???
Any advice would be appreciated...
Thanks

You really should know where to post this as a senior member ...

The burning speed doesn't matter, it's basically the size. It varies from CDR to CDR, you can normally get away with up to 710 so you'll probably struggle with 720 and create a lot of coasters trying.
Is there anyway you can cut the file down slightly ?

yes, the burning speed does also matter, you will usually be able to overburn more at a slower setting, and 720 megs is probably around the max u will be able to overburn

You could also just use a 90/99min CDR.

Assuming your hardware is capable use a 90min CD. Burn in test mode & see if it completes OK first. 720m is pushing it on a 80min CD.

Well if the hardware isn't capable of burning 720MB's onto a 90min CDR then it is hardly going to be capable of doing the same on an 80min one.

That's quite correct - which is why I didn't suggest using a 80min CD. If your hardware can't overburn then it's a waste of time anyway.
