i had already posted a msg regarding my problem with my asus cdrom n sony writer..the settings in the hardware are correct..the dma mode,disconnect,AIN - enabled;sync - disconnected..it wuz the same before it started giving me problems..till last week it wuz taking somtime arnd 4-5 mins to read..now it dusnt read at all..it burns the cd perfectly..wht should i do..i tried formatting..but tht dint help..do i havta change the jumper n try..??

The Asus CDROM doesn't read but the Sony writer does? It is possible the drive has died. Sounds like you have checked most of the settings. Do you have another drive you could put in there to test with? Since it has gotten progressively worse, it does sound like the drive was going bad.

both the drives dunt read..but i can burn cds using the writer..wen i put a cd in the cd rom..it hangs up..
