Anyone know what protection this has?

I can run it using Daemon Tools, but CloneCd and even Alcohol, no luck.

You have three choices, emulation, cracks or twin sectors. A working 1:1 copy is not an option.

Alcohol should have worked using emulation, for CloneCD you would have to patch the image with twinpeak before burning, even then the copy might not work and I don't think it will install with your Plex as they are generally not capable of reading twin sectors.

Next question. What is the best software to pick up on game protection. I have a version of clonyxl but it always reports the game as being an Audio CD and never reports a protection of any sort.

Well my answer would be none. I don't use any, never have. Someone else I am sure will have a different answer though.
