hello i upgrade to the new dash an bios, i just got my movie Red Dragon, an this movie dosent play on my xbox all of my other do what can wrong with this, maybe theres a new protection on it,oh by the way my home dvd plays it but xbox an pc dvd dosent. all the dvd's movies work on my xbox with the ms dvd ima go try dvdx 2 maybe that would work.

So it's a DVDR right? What brand of media is it on?

no it's the original movie i just bought it an all i have is my xbox an pc to playit it does work on my pc but when i put on my xbox it says it cant read the dvd, an it plays on a house dvd to but not on a xbox, it plays all my other movie originals an copys, whmmm what could it be. any ideas ?

i had the same problem when i rented out The Bourne Identity, posted problem but no one had any ideas!!! must be to be with the encoding of the disc

Some DVD's just won't work. As PUNKASS76 has said, certain encoding types just won't play. It states this in the manual for the XBox. Maybe try it in another Box if you can, or hold out to see if anyone has tried the same movie in their Box, just to cover the possibilites.

This happened with me recently. I had 2 films which would not play; narc, and ballistic. Wouldnt play using the xbox dvd player, but they played using xbox media player just fine. Also worked ok on my mates dvd player? Weird!

my xbox cant even read the movie, it dosent find a cd in the cd tray, thats the only cd that my xbox has ever had any problem with, i cant even go to xbmp because it says that there is no cd in the tray, thats my problem it dosent read the cd for nothing.

Funny thing I encoutered a similar problem last night. I burned several DVD movies using DVD X COPY Version 1.2.1 and they play perfectly on my PS2 but not a single one copied using that program will play on my XBOX (MS Dash and DVD Remote being used). I know for a fact it's not a media issue because all of my other discs are the exact same brand (Fujifilm DVD-R). I tried discs made with other programs and every single one of them works perfectly in the XBOX and the 3 or 4 XBOX games that I have put on Fujifilm also work perfectly. Weird huh?

I know but I just find it funny that I am just now discovering all of these little media quirks with the XBOXs ability to play DVD movies both backups and originals.
