The Bosstone71 Apr 07, 2003, 03:51 PM Ok, I am going to attempt to put Evo-X on my xbox. I have the modchip and all... and I have a file called EvolutionX_V1_8_3752.Rar. My question is, what do I do with this file?
I have heard I have to burn the Evo-X iso, but there is no iso. If I unrar the file I have the following files:
Evox.ini
evoxdash.xbe
readme.txt
and a directory of Skins.
So.... do I need something else? Or do I just burn this onto a CD-RW?
Thanks for any help....
jesterrace777 Apr 07, 2003, 04:01 PM Go to www.xbox-scene.com and do a search on the opening page for Simple X ISO (not to be confused with xiso as that program has bugs). It will allow you to convert your file to an ISO. It can be found by doing a search in the Archives for posts on the 25th of March 2003. There will be a post on it with a link to download the program. Very easy program to use. Open it up click the "make an iso" button and let the program do the rest.
The Bosstone71 Apr 07, 2003, 04:27 PM ok, that didn't work... i created the iso, burnt it to two CDRW discs and the xbox still says it cannot read it. I then added an external cd player so that it will read all disc formats with no problem and it still comes up with the "Xbox cannot read this disc" error. Do I need to rename something???
SharpSh00ter Apr 07, 2003, 05:05 PM ok this is how u doit unrar the files into a folder in your desktop, config your evox.ini to sute what u whant, know open simple x iso an click on creat an ISO, now search for the folder with the unrar evox dash u just maid, click ok an thats it just whait till it's done, it will creat an ISO in your desktop, then use Record Now or Prasi to make the cd of that ISO.
THAT SIMPLE.
hope i helped.
redwolf Apr 07, 2003, 06:36 PM If your going to burn on a CD/DVD then you need to rename evoxdash.xbe to default.xbe reason for this is that when the disc is loaded on xbox' DVD-ROM drive checks for this file.
The Bosstone71 Apr 07, 2003, 07:12 PM ahhhhh, that helps.... thank you redwolf, i am trying that now
The Bosstone71 Apr 07, 2003, 07:30 PM That was totally it.... I got the EvoX to run off the CD... now I need to get it on the Xbox... if anyone has any tips, please let me know, right now I am going to read through the turorials. I guess the hardest part will be seeing it through FTP....
The Bosstone71 Apr 07, 2003, 09:13 PM Yaaaahaw! I did it. I know this may seem totally old to a lot of you out there, but I got Evo-X on my Xbox, have it all connected to my computer.... and it barely took much work. A few setting changes... a tweak here and there... but it works! Amazing!
The Bosstone71 Apr 07, 2003, 09:38 PM Well, so far this is working perfectly.... however, I want to put on things like boXplorer and Media player. But I go to Xbox-scene and it says, No Download, use XDK. What does that mean? I'm all hyped abotu getting this to work, and now I have no idea of what to do. This is like a maze... but I am sure once I get one thing working, it will all fall into place....
redwolf Apr 07, 2003, 09:51 PM Glad to help. Welldone m8. i think your the first newbie to manage to get evo-x working that quickly.:)
Well no download cos XDK is simply that someone made the program using xbox developement kit unauthorised by Microsoft. So they can get done if the had link to these files. Here i can't tell you where to get it for the same reason. try http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=140183 or get mIRC for PC and choose any IRC network and join #xbins group. Type the msg it tell you and then it will give you a FTP address with username & password. and you should figure out what to do next...
The Bosstone71 Apr 07, 2003, 10:06 PM redwolf, trust me, it wasn't a piece of cake getting it to work. Actually, I had to totally re-create my computer network. So, I'm quite impressed with myself here. All I ahd was a computer, a cable modem and a dream to get this stuff working... started at about 2pm. Took an hour off for pizza, and by 8pm all was working.
Thank you for the help - and helping me out with finding the files and such. I truly do appreciate it!
