Decided to get myself a CD-Rewriter, which arrived this morning. Having read the instructions I felt brave and decided to attempt installing it.

Upon removing the blank plastic bit which covers the 5 1/2" drive space, I noticed that there's a metal cover or some sorts which isn't on any diagrams that I've seen.

As I said in the title, computers are not really my thing so I havn't a clue what it is. Hoping that someone on here, I know how clever you all are (flattery will have to do as I can't afford bribery ;) ), can tell me what it is and how to get it out etc.

the metal backing plate should just push through (you might have to give it a wiggle) to allow the drive to be slotted in

Or you might have to use a screw driver.
