Hey guys, here's a wierd one for you. I'm on xp, got the asus nforce2deluxe mobo. It's not a hardware conflict, but here it is. One day, without any user changes, my cdrom, cd-r, stealth dvd drive, vanished from my computer. I went to check the device manager, all are reporting driver error (missing driver or conflicts). All 3 are, and the stealth dvd doesnt actually even exist or have drivers. I have tried uninstalling hte devices and reinstalling, same thing, they just pop up again with the conflict. I tried updating the drivers, same problem again. I'm a little perplexed because all three are doing this and began at the exact same time. I'm thinking theres some kind of software/os conflict that is blocking all the drives, anyone heard of it or can offer any advice/help?

Is odd. Does your nforce 2 board report them as scsi devices out of curiousity? What happens if you plug one of them in, and assuming that works ok, plug in a second? Do you get a conflict with 2? I expect you may be able to narrow down the problem.

And not wanting to offend with blatantly obvious statements, but make sure jumpers are right for master, slave etc. I would have thought that windows automatically assigns the drivers for the drives, so does seem weird. Had you done anything that initiated the problem?

Aye ,I tried manually unplugging the drives... same problem. I actually was not even at my computer when the problem happened, or when they all jumped on the conflict wagon. That is why I'm so confused, and that my cd-r, cd-rom, and dvd-r are all displaying the exact same problem. That is what made me think it was software, winxp, related.

Here's some info from the device manager, maybe someone more wise can pick out the problem, the error code is 39, missing drivers/ corrupt drivers. The only other wierd thing that stands out that I do not remember the values for is location. All the drives, even the fake dvd-r drive is showing 0(0) for location. Excuse my naivety if that is normal hehe.

Edit: Only the Stealth Dvd is a SCSI, but it doesnt exist nor take up any ports/irq's or drivers.
