I used to love Nero, but now i'm having a few problems with it.

Everytime I burn a DVD-Video (vobs etc)with it, the resulting DVD works fine in my DVD Player and DVD Writer Drive, but when I put any disc made by Nero into my stANdard DVD drive, PS2 or XBOX - I get a no disc message.

It is greatly annoying. The only program that i've been able to get discs to work for PS2 etc is Gear Pro DVD, but i'm a cheapskate and dont want to pay the price for it, when Nero, wich I actually own, should do the job for me.

I'd like to use Prassi because this was great when I just had my CD-RW, but my DVD Writer isnt supported (even with the PX Engine).

I am using the latest version of Nero (5.5.10.15).

Is there some setting i'm missing, what can I do?

Thanks

Try Alcohol 120% there is a free trial download avialable at www.alcohol-soft.com and see if that doesn't work for you. Also are you burning "on the fly" or are you writing your discs to the HD first? It is always recommended to write the image to the HD first. It could also be your media, have you changed brands since you started burning your Movies? XBOX and PS2 are known to have picky drives so sticking with media that they like is crucial.
I hope this helps.

There has also been some trouble reported with the 5.5.10 version of nero and some bugs that weren't worked out of the revision. If you can downgrade to 5.5.9 that might help or if not then simply use Recordnow Max as suggested by nednedned. I also have Recordnow Max and it is a very reliable program for making backups.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, Record Now Max doesnt support my DVD burner (RICOH DVD+R/RW 5125A), it supports the 5125, but not mine.

Gonna try Alcohol. Am I correct in thinking that this only does images though? If so, will it allow me to create an image from my DVD VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS Folders to burn? Will this be OK?

ImgTool can create an image for you.

Doesn't nero have a force compatibility mode selection? Ah, you might use that one.

I had the same problem but i found my answer, but now the dvds wont work on my pc's dvd player but who cares. They work on my xbox. I used the newest version of Nero 5.10.20

1) use dvd2one to make the movie the right size
2) copy this new moive that dvd2one made into a directory called VIDEO_TS
3) make a directory call AUDIO_TS
4) load nero, NOT using the express mode
5) when the wizard comes up, select DVD at top left tab (choices are cd or dvd)
6) goto DVD-ROM (UDF/ISO) option
6.5) goto multisession tab, and select NO Multisession
7) goto ISO tab and make sure the following is selected:
-ISO level 1
-ISO 9660
-joliet
-allow pathdepth of more than 8 directories
-allow more than 255 characters in path

8) then goto UDF TAb and make sure the following is selected..
-Force dvd-video compatibility mode (required for xbox)
9) then goto burn tab, and select new
10 now drag you VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS directroies from the right window (shows files on you hard drive), to window on left side (DVD-R drive)
11) goto the burn icon
12) then goto the burn tab
13) hit the write button
14) if you get a message about multisession or something like that, just click the button that says "no multisession" I think is says that or something like that..
15) the disc will write and work perfect in the xbox...

I just tried this using your settings, and no luck. Are there any additional settings to check? I am using Verbatim DVD+R discs with a TDK burner. They play fine on a ps2, but not the X-Box. ...

i think one thing people might be forgetting is basic dvdr compatibility with the xbox and ps2. both systems are notorious for only working with certain types of discs. As a general rule, the darker the disc, the better...but this isn't always the case.

I haven't had any problems watching dvdrs in either my ps2 or xbox with any software, so for those having problems, I would suggest trying another brand of dvdr.
