Jamie tsom111 Apr 12, 2003, 01:39 PM unless you switch the dvd drive for a new onw, u have to use cdrw's. No version play cdrs well, somethimes randomly it will play one, but you can only really use cdrw's. Check www.xbox-scene.com for the tut on replaceing the dvd drive jesterrace777 Apr 12, 2003, 04:08 PM The DVD drive to have for CD-Rs (and there is no gaurantee for finding one) is the Samsung XBOX DVD drive. It is the rarest of all 3 DVD drives that come with the XBOX (Philips, Thomson, Samsung). The Thomson will do well for CD-RWs (provided you use a good brand i.e. Fujifilm, Verbatim) but don't do well at all with CD-Rs. If you get a Philips (this is the drive that I have) well you better stick to DVDRs as that's about the only format they read. BTW the Samsung can be found at random in the V1.1 XBOXs. For best results search for an XBOX that has been Manufactered between October 2002 and January 2003. The easiest way to tell if it has one is to eject the DVD tray and if outside the central pattern of the tray there are two circular holes outside the central pattern then you have got a Samsung. I hope this helps. |
