I bought an Epson C80 a year ago and now it's acting weird. It always dumped out my inks for no reason. And the set of inks cost ~60$. Now I'm looking for these two brands (Canon/HP) under 150$. What do you guys think of HP and Canon?

Go with HP - have a look around at the number of businesses that use HP printers - the build quality leaves everything else for dead. Canon are OK as they normally ship with sepearte ink tanks which possibly cuts down on ink usage, but my money is with HP - I have had an 895cxi for 2 -3 years now and it's been faultless.

HP cartridges are really expensive when compared to canon though, although they do not have the same volume of ink

Very true, I used to run a Canon but it cost me more than my HP 990 even though they do have seperate ink tanks and the print quality was nowhere hear as good either.

Compat carts are also quite cheap too. For instance I pay £13 for a large 78 colour remanu cart compared to the original HP rec price of £49.99 and if you get them from a decent supplier there is no difference between them and the original in quality. In fact I've found the remanu ones last longer overall too.

I get ink for my HP from www.inkcycle.co.uk. They also pay you to return empty cartridges for recycling

That's now where I get mine from too, they are very good on quality also and not just price. ;)

i also use ink cycle always found them to be cheap and the free delivery is great (takes 3-4 days though)

I use HP cause I can use a refil set & do it myself. on ebay.com I got four 4 oz bottles of ink for $20 & thats enough for like 80 carts.
