I dont know M8e
It shouldnt do that though.
Does it fluctuate when using other burning software?
Also is it sharing the same Ide as your cd drive or the hard drive from which you are burning from?

Is this a SCSI drive on an Adaptec 19160 card perhaps?

Your new writer is writing twice as fast as your old writer did. Therefore, the cache is being depleted faster.

My guess is that your writing speed cannot be preformed by your system.
I think (fear) that the overburn protection is "helping you out".

check if UDMA is enabled on your new writer. Also, more info on your PC
and used software (windows version, anti-virus protection, availlable RAM and free RAM before the burning action) is important.

If you are burning files or a imagefile from your HDD a nice defrag may also help........

I had the same problem as you, what i done was to upgrade the writer firmware.
This worked straight away, no more problems.
Just a suggestion, might help.
