obviously, there's a price difference but can anyone tell me what the diffrences are in specs? i'm not that familiar w/ all the terms...
also, are there bandwith limitations to any of these? (even if they are high).

The differences between the two are hardly noticeable. They are both 4 port routers, just from different manufacturers. Linksys is always more expensive than D-Link so that explains the price difference. There are bandwidth limitations. Each has four 10/100 ports. However it is virtually impossible to have a connection fast enough to utilize them. So bandwidth shouldn't even be a concern. I'm going to move this to the Consumer's Opinion forum for you now.

Alot of people attack D-Link and claim that Linksys is better but I see almost as many problems with Linksys as D-Link and as pointed out above D-Link is cheaper. I have a wired D-Link DI-704 Router that I have been using for a year (using it right now) and I have never had a problem with it. I was debating between the Linksys and the D-Link but the Linksys was about $100 and my D-Link was $60 after rebate so in the interests of finances I went with the D-Link and I have yet to regret it.

I have a linksys and yes I've had some problems with it before doing a firmware update. After doing so, I haven't had any problems with it.

Actually I have both a D-Link DI-704 and a Linksys BEFSR41. I'm currently using the D-Link(I lent the Linksys for a friend to use). I haven't had any problems with either. So why not save money and go with the D-Link?

Like ElaineM I have 2 routers, the smc barricade and the linksys model mentioned by ElaineM. I've lent the linksys to my mate who needed to share his broadband. They've had no problems with the linksys so far (coming up to about 5 months).
Similarly I've not had many problems with the SMC (other than the one that generally everyone seems to have a problem with, which is configuring the router to allow msn messenger to send receive files, and to carry out webcam coversations)
Te reason i kept the SMC and lent the Linksys was purely because the SMC barricade has a serial printer port (along with 4 LAN ports and a WAN port)which means everyone in the house can use the printer without a sepcific pc having to be on.
It aslo has another port which apparently is to connect through an external telephone modem, if in for some reason your broadband connection isn't working for an extended period of time- although i've never used it so don't know whether thats any good or not
