Iam getting a new panasonic dvd burner today and last night I downloaded a trial version of recordnow max, I installed it this morning and ever since then my dvd-rom + cd-rw drives have disapeared !, I can find them through device manager but it has an exclamation next to each, the error message on the drive that appears when I tried to re-install them was :

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

Ive tried the trouble shooter and the devices are attached ok with power going to each, I tried to change them around from the secondry IDE channel to the primary in my BIOS on boot up but unlike my old pc I can't, it won't let me change the devices around.

I'am trying to avoid a full restore as I have a heap of stuff on my pc that because it won't read my drives bar my floppy I can't back up !. I tried a system restore but it's failed with every attempt. I uninstalled the recordnow max software and everything else that I didn't need, but nothing has worked !

Please please help ! :( :( :(

Running Win XP I take it?

Download this Reg patch HERE (http://www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip) and install, remember to backup your registry first before applying as a precaution. ;)

For more info checkout http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;320553 and http://www.aumha.org/a/xpcd.htm
