i have a v3 ps2 and a pioneer a04 burner.
when i make dvd-r games (on traxdata 1x, and infiniti brand) with recordnow max at 1x, i get some spots on the dvd almost like it did not burn those areas.the game skips and locks up while in the ps2. it doesn't do this with a dvd-rw. can i post a picture on this forum?

try different media

i've been using that media before and always worked. it has to be something else like the drive itself, but its not even 1 year old.

Well it doesn't sound good. Did you try a firmware update? The official Pioneer firmware for the A04/104 is up to version 1.40 last I checked.

i tohought 1.33 was the latest.
will give it a go to 1.40 then and see what happens.

if that don't work I'd first try a high quality media before you use it as a door stop.

i upgraded to 1.40, which was supposed to fix something to do with 4x media (infiniti) which i was using. i tried another infiniti 4x dvd-r and still the same thing.
it never happened with TDK dvd-rs, but i just can't find them anymore in the shops around where i live.

The media worked before? Maybe just a bad batch of discs?
Anyway, post if you figure out what's wrong. I'm a very happy A04 owner and I curious on this one.

Try another quality media brand and see if the same thing happens. I seem to notice more and more reports where bad batches of discs seems to be where the blame is. Kinda makes me worried each time I order a new pack.
