Smiffy280361 Apr 22, 2003, 03:35 AM Hi guys
I'm looking to start using my pc as a Karaoke Machine and therefore i'm asking all you guys to point me in the right direction.
I've used CDRwin to compile CD+G discs before to play on a standalone KM but would like some advice or point me to some websites with tutorials which would help me. In particular what software is best to use on a pc running WinXP. I'm not interested in producing my own discs just using my pc as I said as a player.
TIA

oxocubeman Apr 22, 2003, 05:10 AM Try www.karaokeplaygroud.co.uk for a few tutorials in their discussion part and for help in burning cdg discs etc., nice people there, almost as nice as there are in here.
abbykayla Apr 22, 2003, 08:21 AM Hoster at www.mtu.com is a software specifically designed for karaoke on the computer but is very expensive. To play karaoke mp3+g I use wincdg. To convert your cdg to mp3+g use mp3+g toolz available free online, just don't forget to download the framework. If you have any questions email me at audra@runbox.com.

dennisgb Apr 22, 2003, 09:58 AM I'm using winamp to run my pc karaoke show. With the CDG plug-in, it does full screen from MP3+G.
I also run the video plug-in which will run VCD's, AVI, MPEG and a bunch of other video files.
You have the problem of the computer screen being up between songs, but I find the advantage of being able to run all formats a major plus.
Are you going to run a show from your computer or just for fun?
Smiffy280361 Apr 22, 2003, 10:23 AM Hi m8
Just for fun really with my kids or with family and friends around for aqn evening you know...!

dennisgb Apr 22, 2003, 11:55 AM If your just going to do it for home, try WinAmp with the CDG plug-in.
Go to WinAmp website and download it for free.
You have to use the older version of WinAmp (I think its 2.88 - older than 3.0) to get the CDG plug-in to work. The CDG plug-in has to be loaded after you load WinAmp. Once loaded, if you play a MP3+G song it will load screen automatically.
If you have trouble let us know.
Holler Apr 22, 2003, 11:29 PM Danny, I hope you let this post stand as is... :)
Would you like an excellent, FREE, CD+G disk player for your PC?
One that works with RAW 96 drives (compatible, and non-compatible), and even CDRoms?
LD Player comes in a package called Disc.txt, and you can get it here (http://webclub.kcom.ne.jp/ma/takabin/eng/).
This post at karaokeplayground (http://www.karaokeplayground.co.uk/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=001078) shows some settings for LD Player.
This little software player appears to work with all RAW 96 drives, including CDRoms and DVD's. I have tested it with Plextor, LiteOn, Sony, LG drives and even my cheapo CDRom, all having great audio and graphics.
almost as nice as there

karaoke_rob Apr 23, 2003, 05:46 PM There is a plug in for Winamp 3 that plays Karaoke.
If you get yourself a video card that supports two screens, you can have the words on your punters screen and your selection on your own screen.
I also use MTU but did not find it that expensive to buy and that also supports two screens if your video card does.
MTU prog also back ups Karaoke disks with no probs.
If you want more info please email me.
