Hello,
New to all this DVD stuff, i have been reading theese forums a lot to learn but i need a basic questions answered if someone could please.
I have a Sony DRW 500ax dvd-rw drive i bought this new about 2 months ago (using WinXP) , how do i find out my firmware version and then can someone tell me where and how to upgrade if neccessary, what is the best firmware to use , thank you.
any input greatly appreciated.

If you'r using WXP Pro, you can check your firmware version a s follows :

Start/All Pograms/Accessories/System Tools/System Information/Components/CD-ROM then look at PNP Device ID. This will give you Make Model and firmware version for each drive.

If your firmware is working ok, I would leave well alone. Sometimes a firmware upgrade can work wonders, but also it can cause major headaches. Dont just update it on the strength of what you read, or just to have the new version, because what works well for one person, doesn't work well for all.

:D Thank you Phil, it says i am on firmware 2.0c and it seems to work fine, so i will gladly take your advice and leave it as it is.

I tried that once and it didn't work, what did I do wrong? (shhhhh everyone I didn't really do it - Just don't tell hobogobo)
