Hi,
I have burnt some DVDs using Nero 5.5.10. All the while I was checking out the result on my computer and the DVD was working fine.

I got myself a DVD player and then the Disc wont play. The message was "Cannot Play disc" in sony NS-325 and in Pioneer DV-250.

After a bit of research in this forum and also at doom9 and dvdrhelp.com,
I got to know that there is some problem "finalizing" the disk.

I changed the s/w (nero) to RecordNowMax and the burnt another DVD.
Now this one works fine (the one burnt with new s/w).

MY question is, how can I make other DVDs that aint working now, to work.

that is , after i have burnt those DVD+Rs (presumably w/o finalizing them) how to I make them to work again ?

ANy idea ?

THanks,
Jughead !

If they weren't finalised you can't burn them as the disc was never truly completed. You will need to just "bite the bullet" so to speak and reburn the DVDs with RNM onto new discs. One write once media is done recording THE DISC IS DONE!!!!! Although I wouldn't recommend going with +RW media since it's compatibility is lower and the media is more expensive.

Are you sure they haven't been finalised by Nero ? ... How do you know this ?

How did you burn them in the first place, i.e what settings (wizard or other) etc.

I had this same problem with RecordNowMAX and the discs went the way of coasters. :( For some reason, the software would finalize -RW and not -R. In that case, I switched from Data mode to Wizard, and for some odd reason, it works perfectly now. In RN, I also learned that the picture of the DVD you get right before the burn starts will be red when it's going to be left open, and blue when it's going to close it. Unfortunately, you won't be able to close your old discs though m8.

Really My problem is just the opposite it works well when I don't use the wizard but when I do use the Wizard all hell breaks loose. One of those wierd little software quirks I guess.

In RNM, click tools, options. Click DVD, and select the 2nd of the two options, to make sure the disc closes every time when using the wizard.
