Here is the deal....I just got into the X-box realm....have been in the Playstation one era for years.....and just last year got into the PS2 game, I have about 150 games for my PS2 all DVD backups (he, he) none are rips and they work great....

Now, I want to get into the X-box club! I just bought an X-box yesterday and want to do the whole chip thing with this.....here are my quesitons.

1. What chip do you recommend - Matrix??

2. What, why and how do I use X-box BIOS?

3. Do I need patches to play any games??? I have a Pioneer A05 burner using 4x Princo white top and purple bottom media....will that work..??

4. Do I burn the games just like I do PS2 games...I use RecordNow Max...nothing to patch or change...just burn and play??

5. I heard once you chip x-box you can no longer play online???

6. Thanks!

Damn Newbies!! :)

1). Doesnt matter, they all work. I have Evox2.2 and works great. Matrix is solder free. Just a matter of $$$.

2). Just stay away from it, if you dont mess up your xbox.

3). Some games do, mainly on the newer games. You can patch them, even if they dont patching, there is a list af games in here somewhere that definitly need them. The media is fine, I use the same kind, but some lasers are more pickier than others, so it depends if your xbox has pms.
Switch to Ritek then.

4). Hell no! I wish, Need Evolution X, pc's cant read xbox games. Evolution X allows to network your xbox to your pc, then you can read the discs.

5). If you chip, there is a switch available for online play, If you decide not to have the switch and play online you will be banned. The switch costs about $35.

6). Your Welcome

Hello Mr Xbox noob.

To add to the answers above,

3. Actually you won't need to patch a thing if you get a chip with the X2 4976.02 BIOS. This version gets around the media checks on some newer games.
