got a ver5 with a knacked laser bought a new one for it and fitted it but all it does is make a clicking sound and the disc spins any ideas whats wrong

If any of the ribbons connectors are broken it wont work. You have to be very careful. But if there is no tear in the ribbon are you sure you bought the right version lazer for you ps2

Did you fit the little grub screw that determines how high the laser sits on the slider rail? They don't come fitted on the new lasers.

Did you desolder the two blobs of solder on the back of the laser unit?

right heres the update tried the laser in aa ver4 and it works fine so it seems that the seller who told me it was a ver5 laser was wrong or are they interchangable
