i have a toshiba laptop 4600. i lost the charger. i was just wonderin if it mattered if i got a 15volt 5amp instead of a 15volt 4 amp.

Probably not. I have a Compaq with 2 adaptors, 1 of which is for the convenience base. This convenience base adaptor is a higher ampage that the other one. I've used both in the laptop without problem.
