Is it possible for me to flash my Matrix chip using Evox or Slayers, or do I have to use the programmer that came with the chip? I dread having to re-install the chip because it was a pain the the arse to line up the contact points so if there's an easier way please let me know! Thanks.

Not true... the Matrix can be flashed with Evox. It's just the second to last dash that was released had an error on it. Get the new Evox with the new ini file and update the bios identification area... Copy/Paste. Then FTP it to your box and put the desired bios in the bios folder on your C drive. Make sure the Matrix is in Mode 4... off off. Then start up and just select flash bios. The bios you ftp'd should be selectable. Should take about 30 seconds and you're done... works with live too.

Cool. Now would I be able to just dump the bios into the "bios folder" on the evox cd and update directly from the cd? I don't have an ftp set up so this would be easier for me. Also, will this bios work with my Matrix chip?

Well thats interesting... no ftp? I guess you installed slayers? In that case you could use boxplorer to get it off of the cd into your c/bios folder. x2 should be fine. You need to make sure your evox.ini file is up to date though so that it recognizes those bios.

One more question. How do I know if my evox.ini file is up to date? Thanks for all your help!

No prob, the evox.ini file doesn't have to be up to date per say. It just has to instruct the dash on what sorts of things you want it to do. You can completely change the options of what evox gives you with this file. So what you want is a listing of all the latest bios. To make it easy just get the latest evox dash from you know where (hint bitiable). This ini file will have a complete laundry list of just about every bios and their ID numbers. So instead of having to find that stuff out just cut and paste. Every thing else in the ini file should be the same or of no real importance to the common user. Thats really all I meant by "up to date".

jamieshan and dVeLoPe,
What's the trick to lineing up the Matrix. The POGO is the springy one right? I've had a *itch of a hard time getting this one Matrix to take to a friends board. I'm about to chuck it. I know the chips are good because I've tested them in another machine.
Can you give me some advice on lining it up. Is it just a matter of getting it lined up perfectly?
Thanks! Saintgames

I watched my friend do it and he had the most success when he applied a little pressure to the points. Be careful though because you can short out your board. Good luck.
