Hi guys, I've lately been debateing on what my next video card should be. I currently have a Geforce 3 ti 200 but that's been gettin pretty outdated with all the high end games I play. I want to make a decision between the Radeon 9500 Pro and the 9700 Pro (not the 9600 or the 9800 etc). I can get the 9500 Pro for $160 (plus 6% tax), and the 9700 Pro for $230 + Tax (after an employee discount at a retail store I work at). As you guys may have noticed, this makes things harder (cuz its not ~$190 vs. ~$320 which most people get to deal with). I really want a "good" card, not a real high end card, or a crappy card that'll get outdated. And I also dont wanna wait for the 9900 or the NV35s. So please guys tell me what you think, I've seen the reviews etc and just wanna make a decision soon (specially cuz i might be able to get better prices with the 9600 and 9800 coming in on shelves and our store having to clear out these older cards), so what do you all think?

If you want a crad thats gonna last a while then the 9700pro is the best option. The prices should drop soon, as the 9800 pro becomes more popular and the nv35 comes out. The 9500pro is nice, but like you say, it will become obselete quicker. It will outperform the ti gf4 series in most things. The 9700 will eclipse any ti gf4 well and truly.....

My opinion.

yea u guys are probably right, the 9700 pro has blown away all competition in the reviews i've seen while the 9500 pro only preforms just as well as its competition. I guess with the extra $70, i'll get a real performance boost, the dx9 card im lookin for, and some longevity, time to go to work and check the employee price check once again :) lol
