Just got myself a motherboard that supports this and am noticing the lag in performance from my geforce2 mx440. I need to upgrade to 8x. Any recomendations?

GeForce4 Ti4200 8X AGP 128MB Video Card. The best from the lot.

AGP 8X is not that important the difference between a 4x & 8x interface makes little differnce to overal speed.

imho,
the most important thing for speed is to get a prime board and not a cut down one.

if in the US check best buy.

i got a PNy GeForce4 TI 4200 64mb card for $80 when it was on sale. it was posted on deal forums that the company screwed up and put 128mb 8x cards in the box. i was lucky enough to get one. if best buy still has them then look for the box without the yellow sticker that says 64 beats 128 or something like that.

It isn't that tha card can't take advantage of 8x,the software doesn't!There are many times where the 8x actually degrades performance. The mx440 cards are REAL dogs!

8x is new, wait for cards that only support 8x, they will take advantage of the speed, the problem now is that the 8x cards, and just a tweak up from the 4x versions, like GeForce4mx 420 to a 440, not like GF4 mx to a ti

your problem is you had a GeForce2 Mx card, and you now have a GeForce4 mx card, its virtually the same card at a higher clock speed.

I knew it wernt much better. in fact at the time the geforce 3 was kicking geforce 4 in the face in the reviews I read.

but I wanted TV-out for my films :D
