Hi there, I have 8 MPEG's each is around 400-500MB and I am trying to create a DVDR will all 8 on with a menu etc.

Now I have Ulead DVD Movie Factory but when I add the first file (510MB) it says that the file is 1.1GB so therefore I can only get 5 MPEGS on as opposed to 8 which I know can be done as I have previously borrowed a disc which had 8 on it.

Why does this happen? Is it purley on the time of each MPEG (45 minutes each)

Sounds like the mpgs are not DVD complient and that Ulead is trying to re-encode them and therefor increasing the size. Howver that said I have never used Ulead DVD Movie Factory.

I have this problem before. Use ulead 2. Then go to custom--> and change the audio file to LMCD to MPeg. This will reduce the size of your mpeg movie to thier exact size. I was able to fit 18 movies, a total of about 6 to 7 hour.

DR69ON - cheers, managed to fit 8 episodes of a TV Show to DVDR but the picture seems jerky and the last ep has voice out of sync. Should I try less episodes on the disc?

Only time i get sync problem is my original mpeg was out of syce. Make sure your original mpeg file is not out of sync.
Ulead will not convert your video if it's mpeg1 (vcd standard). Ulead will only convert the Audio from 44khz to 48khz. I put 5 vcd disc onto 1 dvdr and the picture and sound are still the same as the vcd. If your file is mpeg1, putting less episode won't helps much unless your original source is really good like dvdrip or High quality.

Cheers for the info. However I am having a few problems with the last episode on each disc I make.

The last one won't play in my Sanyo DVD player, it just siezes up, but does play on my friends X-Wave and it is also fine on my Xbox when used as a DVD player.

I used (S)VCD2DVDMPG to re-encode the sound to 48mhz which it did fine. I then banged these MPG's into Ulead and created data folders so I could burn at a later date.

I then burnt the disc using Prassi. When I use prassi I select 'Record', should I use 'Record and verify'? Is this like closing a CDR for audio??

Have tried burning from folders to Ulead as well and the same outcome.

Could it just be that my player doesn't like reading the ends of the discs. Although I am only burning 3.6gb on each disc.

Sorry for all the questions but I am a newbie to DVDR and I've already made 2 coasters from it.

Record and verify simply checks the DVD written data against the original (ie on your HDD) after the burn is complete. You could try this option just to make sure it is writing successfully, but is normally used for data archiving (eg backup of your HDD).

Freezing while playing at the end of the DVD is just a media issue with your particular player since it works with the XBOX. Try the Ritec dyed ones.

Connie.

Connie - cheers mate, I am using Ritek however (FWS ones from blank disc shop)

Perhaps it's the burner then?

I know absolutely nothing about dvd burning but!!! just a thought, if it is the last one that goes out of sinc, it may be worth a try to stick say a 10mb mpeg at the end so as it becomes the last one and then see if the last episode is still out of sinc. please dont flame for my suggestion as i said above it's just a thought to a process of elimination.
