lodwales May 16, 2003, 01:18 PM i have been told that instant copy gives the highest quality for dvdrs, however this software does not work it just crashes all the time so is there another package that gives 100% quality i have used shrink however quality is not great
Indiana Jones May 16, 2003, 01:37 PM Instant Copy 7 is a great problem, I have never had any troubles and I dont think there is anything else out there that will give the same results, could try DVD Shrink or dvd2one.
rickster904 May 16, 2003, 02:01 PM No problem here either. Have u done the 7.01 patch?
There is no such thing as 100% quality after a shrink. However, some people have sharper eyes and/or better TVs than others. So quality is subject. IC7 is one of the best out there as far as quality is concerned.
jesterrace777 May 16, 2003, 03:09 PM DVD Decrypter and DVD2ONE are what I would recommend for you to use.

I second that, if you cant use IC7 then DVD2one would be my second choice.
bigfatteleman May 16, 2003, 04:38 PM Please excuse me hi-jacking your post, but can you tell me how IC7 compares with DVD Decrypter and DVD2ONE in terms of speed ?
PhilEnfield May 16, 2003, 06:13 PM Speed depends on a number of issues ... i.e. processor, DVD-ROM Drive, HDD speed, RAM etc., but generally IC7 is slower, by up to 4-6 times.
Having said that, if you want quality, on longer films (over 2 hours), it's probably worth the wait ;)

DVD2one is fast but quality wise IC7 gives better results so if you have the system like I do I would go with IC7, takes just under 2 hours to convert a 8GB DVD to 4.2GB
colin7616 May 17, 2003, 12:02 PM i can only speak on ic7 which is very slow but i am of the same oppinion the quality of my back up dvds are to me and my wife undesernable from the original.i use dvddecrypter for decrypting and then use ic7. my sony oem multiburn will only burn at 1x but i think 4-5hrs is worth the wait as ic7 does give a good quality dvd.colin

What is your system mate as it only takes me just under 2 hours to convert a 8GB DVD to 4.2GB with IC7
tate1411 May 23, 2003, 01:47 AM i got a p4 1.8 ghz with 512 ddr and takes me about 4-5 hrs using instant copy. 1 hr to record the dvd so 3-4 for converting.
GTIR May 23, 2003, 05:10 AM have you tryed dvdxcopy express it now puts the movie onto just one dvd-r
the quality is very very good ##
billygates May 23, 2003, 06:56 PM My choice for dvdr software authoring and burning is NeoDVD Plus - brilliant program and fast (compared to other packages out there). DVD Architect has a major flaw which creates a blank screen every 3 minutes (for about 10 seconds) and then reappears. SoftArc DVD is good but it's encoding job tends to leave the final picture blurry at times.
Hope This Helps ...
billygates May 23, 2003, 06:57 PM If you want to go from DVD to file to DVDr - then the choice is clear - donwload DVD Shrinker (freeware) and it's fast. does the ripping and shrinking to a standard DVDr size.
vpkb May 24, 2003, 02:02 AM try DVD Shrink, under and hour, picture is very good
