BRUINSrock May 17, 2003, 02:02 PM For the last 5 months I've been using 1X RITEK's. But the price is like $1.30 and hasn't been going down. And ppl seem to have problems and errors with PRINCOS. What about OptoDisc, there only about $.80 each
So what would you reccommend. Keep dishin out the doe for RITEKS or what alse is thereto use? Note I like to buy in 50 packs.
BRUINSrock May 17, 2003, 04:36 PM Consumer Opinion - Whats better?
OptoDisc VS. PRINCO
jesterrace777 May 18, 2003, 03:20 AM keep dishing out for Riteks would be my advice. The extra $ is worth it to have media that is highly compatible and more durable. I would have to say that Optodisc would be the better of the two (Optodisc vs. Princo) however it seems to be only certain types of Optodiscs that are really reliable. I couldn't tell you which ones as I am not an experienced Optodisc user. My suggestion would be for you to order a trial pack of each and that way you could get a good idea if the media will work for you without dropping a bunch of money. As I said earlier I would stick to Riteks but if not I would order a trial pack of the others. I hope this helps
weewinkie May 18, 2003, 04:16 PM I know the Riteks are a bit dearer but you do get what you pay for
No freezing films or sticky ps2 games :)
I have tried a few different types of media with Princo dye most of the time they are ok for films in dvd players but are not so clever in ps2/xbox
BRUINSrock May 18, 2003, 05:14 PM yah, I got a good 2 weeks prolly before i gotta order again. But these are just for the DVD Player. PS2 games i dont backup myself, i get em through bst
Whats a good place to buy RITEKS in a 50pk ? Most ppl say RIMA or Meritline, if i buy more riteks, wheres the place to buy them at the cheapest price
Jaice May 18, 2003, 06:05 PM 1.30$ is a good price for quality, I'd rather pay extra for better.
jesterrace777 May 18, 2003, 06:29 PM rima and meritline would be the two best places to buy from.
BRUINSrock May 18, 2003, 06:58 PM C, I ordered RITEKS about 2 weeks ago from cdrplanet.com. 50pk for $59.99 + $4 shipping, $63.99. That was a good deal, but now the price their shot up. And I'm just searching to find another deal.
Meritline is $66 + 8.50 shipping, $74.50
Rima is $65 + $4.97, $69.97. not bad. but I'm gunna keep lookin
Also are the price of these goin up? I coulda swore 5 months ago when I got the DVR-105. Rima or somewhere had a 50pk of RITEKS for $50. at the time I was thinkin, a dollar a disc now, soon it will be less ???
jesterrace777 May 18, 2003, 10:32 PM Yes the price is going up on Riteks due to popular demand. No other media has thier compatibility record for the price.
Uranus May 18, 2003, 10:57 PM Count your lucky stars..here in the u.k it costs me £55($89) for 50 ritek discs.
BRUINSrock May 18, 2003, 11:41 PM There any chance of the price dropping? or will it keep going up? Paying $1 a disc was pretty nice.
jesterrace777 May 19, 2003, 03:46 AM I notice that if you buy shortly after all the companies restock then you see a small drop in price as competition mode kicks in. My theory is that the 1x/2x discs will slowly but surely keep going up and the 4x discs will go down at about the same rate. I would imagine in the next year or so we will see 1x and 2x discs phase out and 4x discs become the new standard and the 8x discs will become like the 4x discs are now.
BRUINSrock May 19, 2003, 09:25 PM When this 4x4all hack hits the DVR-105. 4x Discs will be useless. Sure your theory is prolly correct, its a waste tho
