p3 850mhz windows me sony dru-500ax burner
to burn a movie im using smartripper dvd20ne copytodvd
my problem is that the movie does not all copy.i have tried 5 different movies and im always missing the last 10 minutes or so.i check the finished VIDEO_TS file b4 i burn and the whole movie is there .for eg: i copied the movie witness and it said all 17 chapters were there.it went for less than 2hrs so it should of fit.the burnt copy had 17 chapters but in fact when i looked again at the original (to check were it cut out) the burnt one was only up to chapter 2 and was up to 8min played.in other words it copied 2 chapters and stretched it into 17.does anyone have a clue what im doing wrong as ive only had one successful movie and no clue how.i formatted my hd and only reinstalled these progs and still it wont work.is there a better program out there i could use.
thnxs

When you say "it doesn't copy" and is "missing the last 10 mins) do you mean it's freezing and not playing the last 10 mins ?

If so try setting the output size on Dvd2one to 4444mb, this may solve your problem.

Also try using Dvd Decrypter instead of SmartRipper.

no its not freezing and its not always the last 10 min sometimes more.in the case of witness, the last one i tried. it copied it into 17 chapters but looking at the original (noticing where it cut out from)it in fact only copied 8 min of the entire movie .very confusing.

Try to detail your exact procedure, then it will be easier for people on here to help.

ok i tried your suggestion above and still cut the end of the movie.heres what i do
1.unlock the movie by playing it 1st
2.ripping it with smartripper(always says rip successful)
3.check the rip with power dvd(its all there)
4.open dvd2one and follow the directions(eg select source, select destination 4444mb user defined 1.title chapters angle time are all correct)
in audio and subtitle i always tick the 1st box ac36ch and english.i always make a VIDEO_TS folder for the destination.i dont tick burn files with copy to dvd as i like to check the VIDEO_TS folder and make sure its all there.(it always is)
5.open copy to dvd and add files.it then says you have added a dvd video title set.do you want to write a dvd video.i tick yes.then i click on the VIDEO_TS.IFO that comes up then it opens a window that says writing cached files.(this takes about 20min)and then it burns to the disk.finalises the disk and says your cd is ready.my brother has exact same burner and programs but he has xp and i have m.e.his does not say writing cached files.instead it burns straight to the disk.i have the same version of copy to dvd and all the same stuff ticked in the properties as him.yet mine says writing cached files.could this be the problem as what does this mean(im assuming its writing to a temp folder ist)although he has this ticked in his properties and his burns straight away.is there another simple prog out there like copy to dvd that i could try instead.thnks

It does sound as though the "ME/copy to dvd" combination is the problem.

The latest version of Nero is now quite good (DVD Compliancy now sorted), might be worth downloading a trial copy and see if you have more sucess.

Not wanting to pee on your bar-b-que, but ME is about the worst OS M$ produced. You would be far better off dumping it for XP or even going back to W98se.

Isn't there a file size limit of 4GB under FAT32? I was just thinking that maybe 'copytodvd' during the 'caching' process is creating an image larger than this max file size. Try using Ahead's 'Nero' as suggested or Stomps 'RecordNow Max'.

Also try 'Decrypter' instead of 'Smartripper' as this is a little outdated now and I've had problems with some encrytion codes. Just make sure you use 'File mode' and select all the files. This way, you'll have all the DVD content on your drive to play with.

No. You cannot change FAT32 to NTFS as this is an NT based file system. ie NT, 2K, XP (if you want the microsoft option that is).

Yep as Rolling says you cant use NTFS with W98se, but if you are using Dvd Decrypter (in file mode), with Dvd20ne or DvdShrink, yo dont need NTFS, as the individual vob files are only around 1gb.
