toofan May 18, 2003, 04:07 PM I love this emu, works great! I was juss wondering if it runs megacd games also? toofan May 19, 2003, 06:07 AM no answers? :) well..im using xenesis to play sega cd now. works perfect. I have a question, Ive noticed sega cd isos come with mp3 tracks. Is that their original form? I mean did sega cd actually had mp3 files on them? (cuz its was before mp3 became a hit), or are those just cd audio tracks converted to mp3 to take less space? toofan May 19, 2003, 10:34 AM I really love xbox. I had a favourite game on Amiga called "another world" part 2 called "flashback". These 2 were released on many systems. But today i accidently started playing a game on SegaCD called "Heart of Alien". This actually is the missing link between those 2 games that was never released in any otehr system! ..Only on xbox! ..ps: know Im gettin bit out of topic. ;) but my guestion about gensx & segacd remains ;) Jago6 May 19, 2003, 11:00 AM Hello, It Does run megaCD games. I have a couple & they work great.!! So enjoy have fun. Also I love playing Sonic CD. It's awesome. I'm now going to try Final Fight Arcade (SegaCD). u can learn something from everybody. :) andyr May 19, 2003, 01:38 PM Toofan - exactly right. The original CD's have normal CDDA audio tracks. Having the audio tracks as mp3's *shouldn't* result in much difference in quality but makes a huge difference on the space taken up on a hard-drive and to the time it takes to download! The best version of Flashback was on the Amiga! Personally I didn't like Another World but Flashback was superb. Thanks for the info about Heart of Alien - will have to track it down and check it out! (And I don't know if anyone has said this to you but considering the server trouble's you've had with your site, it's a great resource for all things Xbox emulation related and it's a credit to you that you haven't given up on the site. Your hard work is very much appreciated!) eao30 May 19, 2003, 07:42 PM Well said andyr, Toofan has a superb site cheers and keep up the excellent work! toofan May 20, 2003, 09:02 AM tnx guys... but in asnwer to Jago6. I have GensX v.10 & it doesnt run cd games. how do u run it?? cuz megacd files are ISO+mp3... & i tried the iso ..it wouldnt run! also, it doesnt support folder browsing like xenesis so if i want to extract every cd iso in same place to be able to run itll be one big mess! Can u plz tell me how u managed to run megacd isos with Gensx? ps: btw I tried a game called microcosm today. It was a game that first came out on cd systems such as Amiga CD-ROm & SEGA CD. It was suppose to have cutting edge graphics revolutionising the videogame industry! hehehehh... yeah..right! It got lodsa digiztized silly movies in 256 color. If not 64. hehe... it really looks stupid & there is no gameplay. I remember when it came out all the mags made such big fuss about it & I even bought the oriignal! :O andyr May 20, 2003, 04:42 PM Microcosm - I played it on Amiga CD32 and it was rubbish! The megacd usually displayed video in 16 colours (for the sake of speed). The megadrive is capable of 64 colours but through clever programming up-to 256 colours can displayed at once (from a palette of 512) and using cinepak/trucolor the video can displayed full screen!. The MegaCD had a 16bit 68000 processor running 12.5MHz which worked alongside the megadrive's 7.9MHz 68000 and was a 1x drive. Memory was 64K. The CD32 had a 32bit 68ec020, 2x drive and 2Meg memory and could also play CD+G (Karaoke!). It had a palette of 16million colours and the usual video was CDXL - capable of full screen 256 colour video but was usually quarter screen 64 colour (again, speed issues). Don't know why I've told you all that though! |
