'This DVD-9 version (9.4 GB instead of 4.7 GB on a DVD-5 format DVD) utilizes high bitrate to achieve much better picture quality. Comparable and probably better than Columbia Tristar's Superbit technology.. '

I know that dvd's are usually 4.7 GB..(unless I am off somewhere)
But this dvd is 9.4GB...
I personally don't have a burner yet and haven't burned any dvd's,
But I am planning on buying this dvd and planning on buying a dvd burner soon. So a friend of mine wanted me to burn him a copy when I get both in, but I just saw that this dvd is 9.4GB like they stated,
so how am I supposed to burn it? Will it burn?
Anyone know an answer to this?

Thanks

A few programs out there "downsample" DVD9 so that it will fit on a DVD5 disc. Quality is still great, unless you really have a good eye....

I thought that Superbit's were DVD9's just with no extras and extra high bitrates.

DVD9's aren't really 9.4gigs though, that would be a DVD10 (not that that is really 9.4 either, just as a DVD 5 isn't really 4.7) you loose some storage space with two layers compared to 2 sides.

You will find that a fair few of the DVD's out there are DVD9's and that the one you have is nothing special. People encounter and copy them all the time.

Think you will find most dvds are dvd9, very rare to get a dvd5 now.
