If this has already been posted I am sorry but I am so confused about this game!!!
My intention is to copy the retail version of the game onto my HDD and play through my dashboard.
I have heard that this needs patching of some sort as it doesn't work straght off???
My questions are :-
Why does it need patching?
Which patches are needed?
I am using the new Xecuter BIOS so I do not need the Media patch do I???

hi,
i don't have this game yet, but, as i understand it... there are long filenames on the disc, this isn't a problem from dsic cos xbox can read long filenames, or they are patched 'on the fly' by the game itself..i dunno, but xbox _can not_ have any files longer than 38/3 characters on the hdd..it's a limitation of fatx, i think?...anyways, there is a way around this by using the patches, or open the default.xbe in a hex editor, then search out these long filenames and simply edit them to shorten to less than 38 characters...(extension isn't shown in .xbe) then pad out, that is.. use a '0' zero to pad out to the length of the original filename so as not to screw the file up !!
there's an interesting discussion about the same going in xbox scene forums, take a look m8

[edit] obviously, you gotta rename/shortenb each file to the names you used in the default.xbe...seems there are 40 in the pal release, and more/different files in the ntsc release...

no probs, actually, you may wanna just use the spacebar to pad out the default.xbe when opened in your hexeditor...i'm not too sure yet m8, but it sounds like fun ;-)

Reading the other posts, it sounds like some people had success using the two ProjectX patches on a retail version. To do that I *guess* you would need to get the DVD contents to your computer HD, patch them and then put them onto the Xbox.
