Finally After Awhile I got enough money to purchase a DVD-r/w drive. Well, I will manly use it for making backups of DVDs and movie files to a dvd format or even video games. I already have a 48x cdrw drive so Ill be using that for my music and data. My reason for making this topic is, I can not make up my mind on what drive I should get. My main concern is compatably with all the DVD drives/players out there. So I Was looking for a drive with +/- writing compatably. I would careless for the speed but price is alway at hand. So Can you tell me what are some of the prices and what models are good? I have been looking at Buy.com and Tigerdirect.com drives and find some pretty cheap ones around $250. Thank you all.

Go for the Cendyne105 DVD-R/-RW drive as it is simply a relabeled Pioneer 105/A05. It will do DVD-R at 4x and DVD-RW at 2x. The 2x4all firmware hack that is available for the Pioneer/Cendyne 105/A05 is very stable and will allow you to write cheap 1x DVD-R discs at 2x. Apparently there is a deal going right now over at Fatwallet where you can price match the Cendyne at Staples website with another site (I forgot the name) and knock off an additional 10% and then you can enter the code for $30 off any purchase over $150. You can end up getting the Cendyne for $180 without the hassle of any mail-in rebates.
