was wondering if anybody could give me any tips on what could be wrong with my Ps2's. I'll list what their problems are below..

Playstation #1:
Version 3 Installed with Magic 3.0(Playstation worked perfectly for awhile)

Eventually my Ps2's laser began to die(took forever to read games) and I tried to pot tweak it which was unsuccessful. After pot tweaking it the disc would spin like 2 cms then stop, spin 2 cms then stop and eventually turn off. I talked to a few people about my problem and they say to replace the laser which i bought online. Soo after installing the laser I accidently pulled my cd tray off of the track when removing my old laser and when I put it back in it no longer tells the cd holder to move up/down. I put a original copy of Madden 2003 in the tray and reassembled my Ps2 and the system turned on fine. The LED lights come up fine since I just purchased a new cable for it but my controller doesnt work in the menu AND my laser won't turn on at all(the cd drive won't spin the disc at all either. I press the eject button and it begins blinking like its going to open but it stays shut, im guessing it wont open because i messed up the alignment on the track.

Playstation #2:
Pretty much brand new Ps2 Version 7

I installed a Magic 3.1 on this Ps2 and after installing it I wasn't getting any video or sound. I opened it back up and figured out the wire on the modchip for video/sound was touching the grounding plate that presses down tightly on the board soo I snipped the wire, placed some electrical tape around the part that was sticking up and put it back together. I turned it on again and the video/sound were back but the cd tray wouldn't open(the controller works fine). I opened up the PS2 and unsoldered the power wire from the magic 3.1 modchip(stupidly forgot to put electrical tape on the loose wire). Now when I try to turn the Ps2 on none of the LED lights work(They worked fine before but my cable got worn out from taking the machine apart so much and i had to buy another one. Now neither light works... I'm guessing that loose electrical wire grounded itself out on the grounding plate and blew a fuse.

Well these are my problems and I've pretty much come to a deadend with what I know. If anybody could help I'd appreciate it alot, I'm not trying to send either one of them to somebody to be checked because it'd cost $50 which I don't have right now.

Thanks in Advance,
Des

Well you can take the tray apart and line the gears and the track up to get it back on track and it sounds like you might have a short in your power cable. The controller can be fixed by replaceing the fuse if you feal real brave and adventerous you can probably fix it with a link wire and see what happens (there is a fuse diagram floating around somewhere), also check the contoller port connector to see the condition of the cable.

The second ps2 sound like you have blown one or more fuses you just have to check and replace them I guess. I would thin you can sell both and have enough money for a new and working ps2 plus enough for a chip too ;)

Yea I could easily sell both and buy a new one but one is my brothers and one is mine. Right now I'm more worried about the 2nd playstation since its not mine and I blew a fuse or two installing a modchip for him. I checked all of the fuses with a multimeter and they all read .001 so I dunno whats wrong with it anymore.
