Hey everybody,

I need some help...i got a backup copy of GTA VC and burned it using Fireburner (2 bin files and their cue's). Both cd's burned flawlessly. Now, the problem lies when im installing. I go through the setup, unchecking a little box so I dont have to install "GTA VC Rsdio" (lack of harddrive space). Installation of the game begins. About 3/4's down the installation road, I get an error. When I install from the burned cd, I get the following error:

Component: GTA Vice City
File Group:
File:
Error: Catastrophic Failure

When i install from the image (daemon tools), i get an error msg at the same spot in installation but slightly different:

Component: GTA Vice City
File Group: App Executables
File: F:\datacab.2 (drive F:\ being the emulation drive)
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

I believe theyre the same error...except i dont know how to fix it. Could it be my comp? The bin that i downloaded? Should I download it again? Should I give up on thinking that my old comp can support new games like this??? :(

Any suggestions would really help me out.

Thx a lot.......RaGiNgBuLl

Looks like there's a corruption in the bin file.if you downloading from emule/edonkey/Overnet make sure you got error corection on.

Hey...

sounds like a good idea...i didnt exactly get if from edonkey...i got the filename from edonkey and downloaded the file (flt-vca.bin and flt-vcb.bin) off of kazaa...

how do i set error correction on in fireburner, cdrwin, etc???

Thx

"how do i set error correction on in fireburner, cdrwin, etc???"

I don't think that would help. Not really surpised you got a problem with the file as your using kazza to download it. The program can't sort out corrputions.

The cyclic redundancy error is something to do with data corruption and how well the drive can read the cd. I have had a cyclic redundancy error when installing games from my dvd drive, yet the sa,e discs work fine when installed from my cdrw. Sometimes its just a corrupted download.
