ACPI feature is enabled from BIOS? Usually located in Power Management section of CMOS.

go to your power management in control panel

choose that APM and put a check in there, (I believe it's APM)
and that should do the trick.

Then try this:

Check your Registry for this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-SOFTWARE-Microsoft-WindowsNT-CurrentVersion-Winlogon-PowerDownAfterShutdown. then change the value data from 0 to 1.

Just expand each branch listed above till you get to Winlogon then click on it. Look in the right part for the key PowerDownAfterShutdown. Now rightclick on this key and select Modify. You'll see the default Value Data is 0. Change this value to 1. Click OK then close the registry. You're done!

Are you sure it doesn't have this key?

If in Winlogon you don't see it, you can create it by opening the Winlogon section then click on Edit/New/String Value to create a new string and name it PowerDownAfterShutdown then set the value data to 1.

Darn! Forgot to say you need to make a backup of the Reg first.

in regedt32, goto file, export, then save it somewhere, and yes, a registry mistake can be very bad..........

There are two way to backup the registry:

You can use the export function in the System Registry Editor.

You do this manually:
Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CotnrolSet001\Control\Hi veList\ with the System Registry Editor. It shows you the locations of all the files that make up the registry on your PC. Make copies of NTUSER.DAT, USRCLASS.DAT, and all the hive files to create a full backup.

You can also use third party backup tool like backtec (http://www.backtec.com/).
